Planning is well underway with lots of work going on behind the scenes at "The Village".
Bookings for Re-enactment groups to display at this year's event have now closed.
We are pleased to say we now have 15 of the very best groups representing British, Commonwealth, American and Axis troops displaying at The Wartime Village as well as our amazing Victorian period farmhouse and the rest of the museum for visitors to enjoy.
This year sees a change on the music front with Rachel Bea coming along to entertain you all for her first time at The Wartime Village.
We are very grateful to Rachel for supporting the event and keeping us all entertained with music and songs from the war years.
Please spread the word - This is a small event dedicated to history which helps to support and keep the Victorian Farm Museum open to the public throughout the year.
We look forward to welcoming you all to our third year event which has grown from strength to strength. Please visit the web site for more details and get the dates in your diaries.

Mr Guy Newton -
Border Regiment- 19th Indian Division

Picture
A Brave Man -

Never was he ever bored.
What memories he has stored,
Of those wartime bygone years.
Remembering brings him near to tears.
Memories of battles past
Still linger in his mind;
His youth had passed so fast,
And never again to find.
His youth was spent in jungles green,
To fight for England was his aim;
The toil, the fear, made him so keen
For victory, without fame.

It is with a heavy heart and sincere condolences to his family, that we say farewell to one of Slim's forgotten soldiers.

 After being born in Horncastle, he lived all his life in Woodhall Spa. At age 14 he started work at Waterhouses' bakery on the Broadway, which was his lifetime job - the only interruption was being called up.
On 10th December 1941 Guy was called up to be a Private, serving in the 14th army in India, Burma and Singapore. He returned to Woodhall in 1947. He was exceptionally proud of being honorary member and patron of 'The Road To Mandalay' Living History Group.
Guy is now reunited with his wife Agnes and his Burma comrades

Rest Easy Sir, thank you for all the times we shared together, and your pride of being Patron to the Road To Mandalay.
You shall forever be in our thoughts, thank you for the memories.
Slainte Mhath Sir, God speed and Rest in Peace.
